Binance appoints SB Seker as new Head of Asia Pacific region
Binance has appointed SB Seker as its new Head of Asia Pacific, with the responsibility of driving the company's strategic initiatives and regulatory cooperation throughout the region.
Seker joins Binance with more than twenty years' experience across the public sector, fintech, and blockchain sectors, having held senior roles focused on legal, strategy, compliance and management. His background in law and regulatory matters underpins his new remit where he will oversee Binance's operations in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, boost market adoption, and foster partnerships.
Leadership and responsibility
As Head of APAC, Seker's role includes strengthening engagement with policy and regulatory stakeholders, reinforcing Binance's focus on compliance in the crypto industry. He will also oversee the company's operational strategies across one of its most active markets.
Binance's Chief Executive Officer, Richard Teng, commented on the appointment and the direction the company intends to take in the region. Teng said:
"APAC has always been a key region for Binance, and Seker's deep-rooted experience across its diverse markets makes him uniquely positioned to lead the company's next phase of regional growth and engagement," said Richard Teng, CEO of Binance. "With his strong background in financial services and regulated markets, we are confident that Binance can continue advancing our mission of fostering sustainable and responsible growth, while upholding the highest standards of compliance in APAC."
Seker said that he was eager to contribute to the development of the digital asset ecosystem, highlighting both the region's market potential and its evolving regulatory environment.
"APAC has emerged as a frontrunner in digital asset adoption with its unique market diversity and regulatory advancements. I'm truly excited to join Binance to help shape a sustainable, innovative, and compliant future for the digital asset ecosystem across the region alongside the talented team. By working closely with regulators, partners, and our broad community, I look forward to driving strategic initiatives and delivering robust operations throughout the region - underpinned by Binance's steadfast commitment to user protection, transparency, and long-term regulatory alignment."
Professional background
Prior to joining Binance, Seker worked as Senior Vice President at Crypto.com Group. In that role, he led global product development and managed legal and regulatory operations for APAC and MENASA. His earlier career includes positions at Ant Group, Rothschild & Co, and Amicorp Group, where he worked in a variety of senior legal roles. He also practised as a litigator in Australia and served as a central banking lawyer at the Monetary Authority of Singapore.
Seker is qualified to practise law in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, and the UK. His professional development also includes a background in statistical economics as well as financial and management certifications completed in Hong Kong and Singapore.
Regional priorities
In his new capacity, Seker is expected to focus on expanding Binance's presence and operations across APAC's diverse markets, while prioritising regulatory compliance and fostering sustainable growth. The company cited ongoing efforts to deepen relationships with policy and regulatory participants as a way to build and maintain trust within the rapidly evolving crypto industry in Asia.
Binance's outlook for APAC mirrors its global approach: emphasising responsible expansion, transparent operations, and a framework aligned with regulatory expectations. The company continues to position itself as compliant with relevant laws and regulations, citing user protection and transparency as central priorities for its operations.
Seker's appointment is intended to reinforce Binance's ongoing efforts to collaborate with regulatory authorities and industry partners as new markets and technologies emerge throughout the region.
