Extreme Networks named Leader in IDC MarketScape 2025 WLAN report

Fri, 17th Oct 2025

Extreme Networks has been named as a Leader in the IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Enterprise Wireless LAN 2025 Vendor Assessment report.

The report evaluates vendors in the global enterprise wireless LAN (WLAN) market using both quantitative and qualitative analysis to assess their competitive fitness and market success.

Extreme Networks' recognition in the Leaders Category reflects the company's focus on AI-powered automation, flexible deployment models, and experience in managing high-density environments. The IDC MarketScape report highlighted several key strengths attributed to the company's portfolio and approach.

According to the IDC MarketScape, "Extreme Networks offers highly flexible deployment and management options for customers through its universal hardware, enabling customers to choose on-premises or cloud-managed wired and wireless LAN architectures using the same hardware and licenses."

This flexibility is a significant aspect of the company's offering, providing organisations with various ways to structure and scale their networks without being restricted to specific operating models or equipment.

The IDC MarketScape further noted, "Extreme Platform ONE is an advanced, AI-powered management platform with integrated visibility, analytics, and agentic automation capabilities." The platform is designed to simplify network management, deliver actionable insights, and leverage automation to reduce the resources needed for administration and troubleshooting.

The report added, "Extreme earns strong reviews from customers for its responsive support services." Customer service and technical support are often critical deciding factors for enterprises managing complex networking environments and were referenced as an area of strength for the company.

Additionally, Extreme Networks was credited for its "expertise in high-density environments with specialised access points, including stadiums and large public venues." This focus on large, challenging environments positions the vendor to serve a range of sectors, from public venues to education, healthcare, and hospitality.

"With AI-powered automation, Extreme Platform ONE turns tasks that once took six hours with traditional vendors into just six minutes with Extreme, saving time, cutting costs, and eliminating the complexity often associated with enterprise networking. By moving from multiple interfaces to one, and from many clicks to a single click, we simplify operations, boost productivity, and make networks easier than ever to manage. We're honoured that the IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Enterprise Wireless LAN 2025 has recognised Extreme Networks as a Leader, which we believe is a reflection of our relentless innovation and the strength of our solutions portfolio," said Ed Meyercord, President and CEO at Extreme Networks.

Brandon Butler, Senior Research Manager, Network Infrastructure Group at IDC, commented on the company's placement in the Leaders Category. He said, "Extreme Networks' AI-powered network automation, flexible deployment options through its Universal Hardware, and expertise in high-density environments, helped position the company in the Leaders Category of the 2025 IDC MarketScape."

"Its platform capabilities and support model make it well suited for enterprises seeking robust, scalable WLAN solutions across high-density venues and key verticals such as education, healthcare, and hospitality."

The IDC MarketScape vendor assessment model is widely referenced in the technology sector for its comprehensive and rigorous evaluation process. The methodology applies both qualitative and quantitative criteria to produce a unified graphical representation of vendor positioning in the market, allowing technology buyers to compare capabilities, strategies, and strengths of competing suppliers.

The inclusion of Extreme Networks in the Leaders Category indicates the company's standing amongst global competitors in the enterprise WLAN market, especially as organisations in a variety of sectors seek reliable, scalable, and manageable wireless solutions for both standard and high-density scenarios.
