Kaspersky launches courses to strengthen cyber skills

Yesterday

Kaspersky has introduced three new courses focused on enhancing cybersecurity skills through its Kaspersky Automated Security Awareness Platform.

As cyberattacks become increasingly frequent, specific targets including healthcare, supply chains, and upper-level executives are experiencing heightened threats. Notably, a Kaspersky IT Security Economics report highlights that supply chain resilience was a significant point of concern for IT security teams in 2023.

Businesses are urged to maintain extensive oversight over their suppliers. In addition, the healthcare sector reports an alarming average of 18 incidents per year, yet its security maturity and funding remain inadequate.

In response, Kaspersky has launched three specialised courses within its Kaspersky Automated Security Awareness Platform. These courses aim to improve awareness and develop practical skills needed to counter present-day cyberthreats.

"Attacks on top managers and on behalf of top managers: whaling and its impact" is one such course, focusing on sophisticated phishing attempts targeting executive-level management. This form of attack often involves well-prepared cybercriminals who exploit the authority of CEOs and similar positions. Participants learn to both protect executives and recognise impersonation attacks to minimise leakages and fraud.

The "Information security in healthcare" course addresses the specific cybersecurity concerns faced by the medical industry. Given that maintaining information hygiene and cyber literacy can be life-saving, this course introduces fundamental information security principles applicable within healthcare settings. Participants receive detailed advice on handling medical data securely, covering topics such as storage and transmission best practices whilst also considering relevant legal regulations.

The course on "Supply chain attacks" investigates the escalating risk of cybersecurity threats which circumvent robust internal protections by focusing on external suppliers. These threats often involve infiltrating the trusted partners' systems through malicious code or exploiting vulnerabilities in contractor systems. This course provides strategies for recognising and mitigating these risks, helping organisations to safeguard their interconnected systems.

Tatyana Shumaylova, Senior Product Marketing Manager at Kaspersky Security Awareness, explained the importance of these training modules, stating, "As cyber threats evolve, so must our strategies to counter them. By equipping employees with both the knowledge and practical tools to mitigate these risks, we empower organisations to stay one step ahead of attackers."

"Whether it's protecting executives from sophisticated phishing attempts, safeguarding critical healthcare systems, or addressing the hidden vulnerabilities in supply chains, these courses are designed to build resilience in an increasingly interconnected and complex digital world. Implementing solutions to enhance employees' cyber skills is a vital part of any organisation's comprehensive cyber defense approach as it adds an additional layer of protection. At Kaspersky, we believe that highly skilled employees are the first line of effective cyber protection, and developing new courses within Kaspersky ASAP reflects our commitment to creating a safer future."
