A10 Networks enhances security with ThreatX acquisition

Yesterday

A10 Networks has announced the acquisition of ThreatX Protect's assets and key personnel, enhancing its cybersecurity portfolio with a focus on web application and API protection.

The acquisition addresses the increasing attacks on web applications and APIs, which pose significant threats to enterprises. ThreatX Protect offers a distinctive web application and API protection (WAAP) solution that employs behavioural and risk profiling to mitigate evolving threats, including those targeting AI applications. This solution is delivered as a software-as-a-service (SaaS), encompassing API protection, bot management, and a next-generation web application firewall.

Dhrupad Trivedi, President and CEO of A10 Networks, commented, "Expanding the A10 Defend security portfolio with ThreatX Protect gives our customers an additional tool in their strategy to protect against new and evolving threats. Our strategic focus is on helping enterprises secure their applications and networks from the growing number of threats today, as well as protecting the emerging AI use cases of the future. Adding WAAP to our solution set gives customers additional capabilities to help establish a strong security posture."

Gene Fay, CEO of ThreatX, expressed his enthusiasm for the acquisition, stating, "We are thrilled that A10 Networks has acquired certain assets of ThreatX, including the brand and the TX Protect WAAP solution to expand A10's security portfolio. A10 has been a fantastic partner throughout this process, and we are confident that our customers and employees will thrive under their leadership."

Following the acquisition, the remaining assets of ThreatX will be rebranded and launched as Run Security, featuring RS Prevent, an enhanced eBPF-based solution.

ThreatX Protect will support A10's strategy of implementing security solutions in a hybrid approach capable of protecting applications and APIs in diverse environments, whether they be public cloud, private cloud, co-location facilities, or on-premises. The A10 Defend portfolio now offers integrated DDoS protection, DDoS threat intelligence, and a comprehensive WAAP solution for enhanced security across mission-critical applications.

While the specific terms of the transaction were not disclosed, it is aligned with A10's strategic aim of fortifying its security capabilities to expand within the enterprise market. This acquisition is projected to modestly contribute to A10's earnings per share by 2025 without altering the company's long-term financial outlook or business model.
