AI & sustainability driving India's technology transformation

Today

Industry leaders have shared perspectives on the role of technology in India's economic, environmental, and security landscape in recognition of National Technology Day 2025.

Harsha Solanki, Vice President and General Manager Asia at Infobip, emphasised the critical importance of sustainable innovation, referencing India's prominent initiatives such as the National Solar Mission, National Electric Mobility Mission, and the SATAT scheme. She stated, "In an era where sustainable innovation is not a choice but a necessity, India is leading the charge with forward-thinking initiatives like the National Solar Mission, National Electric Mobility Mission, and the SATAT (Sustainable Alternative Towards Affordable Transportation) scheme. These programs reflect a strong commitment to balancing economic growth with environmental responsibility."

Solanki highlighted the emerging impact of generative and agentic artificial intelligence within India's technology sector. "As we look ahead, the next wave of transformative change lies in the power of emerging technologies, particularly Generative AI and agentic AI. Gen AI has already begun reshaping sectors with its ability to accelerate research, optimise energy systems, and design climate-resilient infrastructure. Meanwhile, agentic AI, autonomous systems that sense, reason, and act, is poised to scale these efforts by driving intelligent automation across industries."

She explained Infobip's approach: "As a global cloud communications platform with a strong 'Made in India' spirit, we at Infobip enable businesses in India to harness these technologies for sustainable growth. By integrating AI-powered communication and automation, Indian brands can scale responsibly, reduce resource usage, and align with the nation's digital and environmental goals."

"Together, these technologies can amplify our collective impact, from predictive climate modelling and efficient supply chains to AI-enabled disaster response and green energy management. On National Technology Day, let us recognise how innovation, guided by responsibility, can unlock a more sustainable tomorrow, not just for India, but for the world."

Vishal Salvi, CEO at Quick Heal Technologies, addressed the dual nature of technological advancement amid India's digital transformation. "As India's technological progress accelerates—from AI to digital public infrastructure—it brings immense opportunity but also greater exposure to evolving cyber risks. Technology is both a boon and a potential bane. That's why the need for strong, responsible cybersecurity has never been more urgent."

Salvi outlined his company's contributions and innovations in this area. "At Quick Heal Technologies Limited, rooted in innovation, we proudly embody the Atmanirbhar Bharat vision as a Make in India brand, delivering globally competitive cybersecurity solutions. At the core of our product suite lies GoDeep.AI—our patented AI-powered detection and hunting technology—delivering real-time, adaptive protection."

"With the launch of SIA, our GenAI-powered virtual cybersecurity analyst equipped with advanced agentic AI capabilities, we're democratising enterprise-grade security by empowering security teams to scale effortlessly and respond faster. On the consumer front, AntiFraud.AI—India's first fraud prevention solution—is helping fight the rising tide of real-world scams impacting even the most tech-aware users."

He continued, "With one of the most advanced and purpose-built tech stacks in the industry, we're ensuring our customers partake into the real essence of technology while staying a step ahead of threats—every single day."

Parag Khurana, Country Manager (India) at Barracuda Networks, pointed to India's growing requirement for robust cybersecurity amid rapid digitalisation. "National Technology Day is a moment to reflect on how far India has come in its digital journey, and what's needed to protect that progress. With the rise of cloud adoption, remote work, and digital services across sectors, cybersecurity has become a critical part of the conversation. It's not always the most visible part of innovation, but it's just as important."

He elaborated, "This includes securing commonly targeted entry points like email, which remains a leading vector for phishing and ransomware attacks. Without proper protection and threat detection in place, organisations risk business disruption, data loss, application and software vulnerabilities, and financial impact. Organisations should also avoid a 'set and forget' approach to security because threats are evolving constantly."

Khurana described Barracuda's presence in India: "At Barracuda, we're proud to contribute to India's digital and cybersecurity landscape not just as a trusted security provider, but through our strong engineering presence in Bangalore and our work with local partners. Our commitment to supporting Indian organisations with solutions backed by our integrated platform, 24/7 threat detection, and focus on building long-term cyber resilience is a part of our broader mission of helping businesses stay protected and ready for whatever comes next."

Niraj Kumar, Chief Technology Officer at Onix, shared his perspective on technology's broader impact. "At Onix, we see technology as more than just a tool, it's a powerful driver of progress. On National Technology Day, we celebrate the visionaries and change makers who are building a smarter, more connected world. From cloud, data, and AI-driven solutions to software solutions, we're proud to be at the forefront of innovation across multiple industries. India's tech journey is inspiring, from modest beginnings to becoming a global leader, and the future looks even more exciting, with game changing technologies like Generative AI set to transform how we live and work."

Kumar also noted the increasing accessibility of advanced technology: "The rise of SaaS has made cutting-edge tech more accessible than ever, helping businesses of all sizes stay ahead. As we move forward, our focus at Onix remains clear, to innovate responsibly, protect what matters, and collaborate to shape a digital future that empowers every Indian."

Dhruvil Sanghvi, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of LogiNext, underscored the impact of artificial intelligence on logistics and supply chains. "Just like in every other field, Artificial intelligence is creating unparalleled new opportunities for logistics and supply chain management as well."

He highlighted the rapid market growth and the industry's evolving standards: "As the Indian logistics market is projected to grow to $484 billion by 2029, AI's integration into logistics is poised to redefine industry standards, making supply chains more agile, transparent, and resilient. Looking ahead, the use of AI in logistics is expected to continue evolving, with advancements in autonomous vehicles, predictive analytics, and real-time tracking systems. By effective use of AI, companies have addressed common supply chain bottlenecks and revolutionising first, mid and last-mile delivery while optimising inventory management and transparency."

Sanghvi added, "By integrating AI-powered communication and automation, brands around the world have also scaled responsibly. Globally, the AI in logistics market is expected to grow from $17.96 billion in 2024 to approximately $707.75 billion by 2034, expanding at a CAGR of 44.40%. The industry must focus on developing its distribution systems, prioritising timely delivery, effective packaging, and logistics capacity."

"AI leverages vast datasets—including historical delivery patterns, consumer behavior, social media signals, local events, and weather forecasts—to predict where and when delivery demand will surge. This foresight allows companies to preposition vehicles, personnel, and inventory ahead of demand spikes, reducing response times and operating costs, and also contributes to sustainability efforts by reducing carbon footprints."
