Emburse launches AI-driven mobile app to streamline expenses

Yesterday

Emburse has released a mobile app utilising artificial intelligence and automation to support enterprise expense management across its global customer base.

The updated app aims to support employees and managers by integrating Emburse's AI-driven tools into a unified mobile experience. Emburse AI is designed to comprehend context, predict missing or unclear data, and adapt to a wide range of data formats for what the company states is more precise data extraction.

The new mobile app, available to all Emburse customers around the world at no additional cost, incorporates updated features such as AI-powered receipt capture. The feature offers users the ability to eliminate the need to retain paper receipts and reduce manual data entry by providing auto-capture, receipt border detection, customisable cropping, PDF upload, and multi-page capture for extensive receipts or multiple folios.

The app also provides support for more than 35 international languages and introduces AI-powered optical character recognition (OCR) transcription, which is intended to support international business travellers and multinational workforces with seamless expense management.

An actionable home dashboard was introduced to provide users with a starting point for quick expense capture, review, and submission. This is part of the app's effort to streamline the expense management process for both employees and finance managers.

The updated app now also accommodates both complete and partial expense report approvals. Approvers are able to address individual line items within reports without the requirement for all items to be reviewed by each member in the approval chain. This extends to approving expense reports, pre-approvals, invoices, and purchase orders from the mobile platform when applicable.

Security protocols have been incorporated, including secure single sign-on (SSO), offline access, and a foundation designed to support future travel and expense management features. The app's developers note a key aim is to facilitate compliance for global enterprise customers.

Paul Nagy, Chief Product Officer at Emburse, said: "The new Emburse Enterprise mobile app makes submitting and approving expenses practically effortless. It delivers a smooth, intuitive experience that accelerates reimbursements and payments while helping enterprises track and control their spend. Accuracy is significantly boosted across language, currency, and hand written values. This is just the beginning of the power that AI will unleash across our Travel and Expense solutions."

Customer feedback on the app's latest capabilities reflects improvements in speed and usability. Shelton Palmer, Expense and Card Administrator at Austin Powder, said: "Emburse is the most feature-rich yet cost-effective solution. We can now reimburse travellers up to 75% faster."

According to Emburse, the mobile app's similarity in design and functionality to the desktop version has reportedly helped minimise onboarding challenges for early adopters, who cite ease of use as a benefit.

The mobile platform continues the company's focus on end-to-end expense management and is positioned to enable users to manage business travel and employee expenses from initial capture to approval and reimbursement.

Embure states that all features of the new Enterprise mobile app are included at no extra charge for existing Enterprise customers, with the application downloadable via Google Play or Apple's App Store globally.
