Entro Security integrates with Google Workspace for safety
Entro Security has revealed its latest integration with Google Workspace, which allows security teams to manage secrets and non-human identity (NHI) risks in applications such as Google Drive and Google Chat.
With many cloud-based enterprises relying heavily on Google Workspace, credentials such as API keys and tokens are often mishandled. These are frequently stored in files, shared in chats or left in collaborative documents, increasing the potential risk of breaches and compliance issues.
A 2024 report indicates that 40.2% of Google Drive files contain sensitive data, with 34.2% shared externally. Over 350,000 files are publicly accessible, highlighting the risk of data exposure in cloud collaboration tools.
The new integration from Entro Security aims to introduce automated risk detection and real-time governance to Google Workspace, ensuring that NHIs are properly secured without disturbing business processes.
Key features of the integration include Google Drive Secret Scanning, which detects exposed secrets in documents and files both within the organisation and shared with external parties. This includes the use of computer vision technology.
Google Chat Secret Scanning also helps identify and address NHIs and secrets shared in conversations, aiding in the secure management of information.
The NHI Permissions & Risk Analysis feature alerts and contextualises any overly privileged Google non-human identities with excessive permissions across Google APIs.
Google Identity Management is also provided, offering full visibility into NHI accounts and linking them to human owners for increased accountability and possible remediation.
Itzik Alvas, CEO and co-founder of Entro Security, stated, "Security teams struggle with NHI sprawl, and Google Workspace is one of the most overlooked exposure areas. Our new integration ensures organisations gain more visibility and control over NHIs and secrets before they become a security incident."
This integration is set to enhance Entro's NHI Security Platform, which helps security teams proactively minimise risk, enforce governance, and automate their response while maintaining productivity. The platform covers other aspects such as GCP services, code repositories like GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, CI/CD pipelines, and messaging apps, including Slack and Microsoft Teams.
