Mecalux enhances Easy WMS with AI-driven chat features

Mecalux has integrated generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) into its Easy WMS warehouse management system to enhance user interaction through chat-based communication.

The integration allows users, in over 1,100 warehouses across 36 countries, to query logistics operation data, create reports, and generate dashboards via chat. This new feature enables warehouse staff to release orders or unblock aisles automatically upon confirmation through the conversation, providing a more seamless operational process.

According to Mecalux, the AI tool can interpret complex questions in seven languages, mimicking human interaction, and responding in a natural language format. This capability is intended to streamline decision-making and task execution in warehouse environments. It aims to improve efficiency by enabling users to ask about any warehouse-related issue, with Easy WMS furnishing precise answers in various formats such as figures, lists, tables, and charts.

The GenAI tool is capable of generating downloadable reports with essential inventory management data. It also creates visual summaries depicting the status of outbound orders and real-time occupancy levels. Additionally, the tool can provide information about the current stock of specific products, a feature that can aid in inventory accuracy and management.

"For example, users can request the release of all orders marked for express delivery or the unblocking of a specific aisle," stated a Mecalux spokesperson. "These actions are performed automatically once confirmed through the chat."

This development marks a significant advancement in the optimisation of logistics operations using Easy WMS. Mecalux commits to continuous updates of the system and responsiveness to user feedback, which will help refine its capabilities and respond better to the evolving needs of their clients.

Mecalux is also utilising AI to elevate the quality of its software, aiding its developers in code generation and review. This effort dovetails with its broader strategy to drive innovation in the logistics sector.
