Mitel bolsters growth with enhanced business communication strategy
Business communications company, Mitel, has announced strategic enhancements to its portfolio that aim to boost the company's growth plans and deliver increased customer value. Mitel's updated portfolio strategy will focus on three key areas - hybrid cloud UC solutions, deep vertical integrations, and multimodal capabilities for frontline workers. The strategy is designed to cater to current customer needs whilst also remaining pliable for future developments.
Following the acquisition of Unify last year, the updated portfolio combines the best elements of both companies, creating a comprehensive suite of solutions and services and reaffirming Mitel's commitment to leading the unified communications market (UC) with standout practical innovation, flexibility and proven experience.
Mitel's new strategy for hybrid cloud UC solutions stems from its long-held belief in the importance of flexible deployment models. Mitel already mixes private cloud, public cloud, and on-premise solutions. Now, as industry projections foresee nearly 80% of the global UC market to be hybrid-based by 2026, Mitel is focusing on delivering hybrid solutions that blend the data privacy, security and regulatory compliance of private cloud and on-premise models with public cloud accessibility.
Deep vertical integrations also feature prominently in Mitel's portfolio strategy. Acknowledging a growing demand for integrated communications and generative AI capabilities in business workflows, Mitel aims to cater to the individual requirements of various sectors including healthcare, financial services, the public sector and hospitality. Highlights include the innovative Virtual Care Collaboration Service (VCCS) for healthcare organisations, and OpenScape Xpert, a multi-line communications solution ideal for government and transportation dispatch centres along with financial and energy trading houses.
Recognising the four-to-one ratio of frontline to knowledge workers, Mitel aims to provide solutions tailored to on-the-go professionals and remote workers. These include new DECT handsets, designed for demanding environments like hospitals and factories, and AI-enhanced capabilities for on-site customer service requests.
"Unified communications is a mature market where we continue to see consolidation and vendors exiting the space, giving Mitel a greater opportunity," said Martin Bitzinger, SVP Product Management at Mitel. He stated the aim was to provide each customer with a suitable communications solution for their needs, with the flexibility to adapt to future requirements.
"IT decision-makers have by and large reverted to pre-pandemic priorities, putting security, solution integration and aligning technology investments with business strategies as pressing issues," observed Elka Popova, VP of Connected Work Research at Frost & Sullivan. She further noted that with its revamped portfolio, Mitel is well placed to take advantage of the UC market's hybrid and vertical opportunities.
Mitel's updated portfolio strategy will be showcased at its upcoming Mitel Next events for partners, consultants, and Mitel User Group members. The events will take place in San Antonio, Texas, Cologne, Germany, and Barcelona, Spain, this spring.
