Picterra unveils GeoAI platform for plot monitoring

Today

Picterra has launched Picterra Tracer, a new GeoAI platform aimed at improving plot monitoring, reporting, and verification for industries reliant on soft commodities and forestry.

Picterra Tracer offers a comprehensive solution to simplify the creation, validation, analysis, and monitoring of land plots and boundaries. Utilising satellite, drone, and aerial imagery combined with open-source geographic layers, this new tool provides a visually intuitive interface for precise plot analysis.

This product is designed to assist producers, operators, and traders in meeting environmental regulations and sustainability reporting requirements, such as the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).

Picterra Tracer includes features that cater to users with minimal technical geospatial experience, assisting them in validating carbon credit claims and carrying out environmental monitoring.

Frank de Morsier, Co-Founder and COO at Picterra, stated, "Regulatory requirements such as the EUDR and the demand for transparent sustainability practices have created immense pressure on companies to manage their supply chain and associated geospatial data more effectively. As fragmented solutions have only added complexity to the operations of ecosystem stakeholders - keeping stress levels high with EUDR on the horizon - Picterra Tracer steps in to fill this gap. It delivers a product that not only simplifies compliance but also adds strategic value by transforming raw data into due diligence reports relevant across multiple industries."

Picterra Tracer integrates seamlessly with a variety of existing systems through its modular API. This facilitates tailored geospatial analysis capabilities, meeting specific traceability and compliance needs. An example of this is the integration with Tilkal's Traceability Open Connect initiative, promoting secure data exchange across various traceability solutions.

Interactive data visualization tools in Picterra Tracer aid users in assessing environmental impacts like deforestation, with the option to export analysis results and reports efficiently. Automated data verification and correction ensure incoming data meets regulatory standards, and an automated mapping feature further aids in accurate boundary creation.

The platform is versatile, catering to industries involved in biodiversity monitoring, regenerative agriculture, and carbon offset management across commodities such as cocoa, coffee, soy, palm oil, wood, cattle, and rubber.

Picterra Tracer is now available for demonstrations and pre-orders, with full deployment expected in early 2025.
