Denodo again a Leader in Gartner 2025 data tools MQ
Denodo has been named a Leader in Gartner's 2025 Magic Quadrant for Data Integration Tools, marking the sixth year in a row that the data management firm has secured the position.
The research assesses 20 data integration vendors. It focuses on tools that support operational, analytical and AI-related use cases.
Gartner describes data integration tools as a fundamental component of modern data architectures. It says data and analytics leaders use the research when they compare vendors in the market.
In the 2025 report, Gartner predicts that AI assistants and AI-enhanced workflows in data integration tools will cut manual intervention by 60% by 2027. It also expects these tools to enable self-service data management in that period.
AI-driven upgrades
Denodo has introduced a series of product updates since the previous edition of the Magic Quadrant. The company focuses on AI-enhanced workflows and self-service data functions in its recent releases.
In April, Denodo released Denodo Platform 9.2. The version extended support for generative AI initiatives. It also added self-service tools for the development of data products.
In September, Denodo followed with Denodo Platform 9.3. The latest release introduced DeepQuery, which the company describes as a deep research feature. The update also included additional functions that target AI-based innovation.
Denodo positions its platform as a logical data management layer. It uses a semantic approach that sits above underlying data sources.
The company says many customers use the platform as a data fabric that spans multiple systems. It says this supports federation-based strategies for modern data architectures.
Ravi Shankar, Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer at Denodo, said the focus of data integration is changing as AI adoption grows.
"The goals of data integration are now driven by the need for AI-ready data, which is not only immediately integrated, but also governed, secure, and trusted, and the Denodo Platform, with its semantic capabilities and logical data management approach, provides the most flexible, direct paths to AI-ready data," said Ravi Shankar, senior vice president and chief marketing officer at Denodo.
He said the recognition from Gartner reflects the company's chosen strategy.
"We are extremely proud that Gartner has once again recognized Denodo as a Leader in the Magic Quadrant for Data Integration Tools, as Gartner has done for the previous five years. This provides us with encouragement that our chosen approach is effective for a diverse customer base tackling complex AI challenges," said Shankar.
Customer feedback
Denodo also highlights feedback on Gartner Peer Insights. The review platform aggregates user ratings for enterprise software.
The Denodo Platform holds an average rating of 4.6 out of 5 on Gartner Peer Insights. The figure is based on 277 reviews.
One reviewer is a Data Virtualization Architect. The reviewer describes advances in AI functions in version 9.1.x of the platform.
"Denodo Reaches New Heights with Advanced AI Capabilities: Their advances in artificial intelligence with Denodo 9.1.x provide the ability to connect Denodo to your AI engine and get assistance right in the Design Studio with naming fields, describing the data in those fields, and troubleshooting queries in a VQL shell. Connecting your AI engine to the Denodo Data Catalog currently provides the ability to query data with natural language, returning a fully developed query that you can execute or open in a VQL shell right from the catalog interface. Future roadmap will incorporate "Ask Anything" into the catalog, providing the AI capability to be more like a full chatbot capable of answering non-data questions as well as data related questions in the shell." - Data Virtualization Architect
Another review comes from an IT Manager. The customer uses Denodo as a semantic integration layer.
"Denodo as an integration semantic layer: The Denodo product allows us to present data to suit different customer needs much more quickly than we could before. From concept to testing can happen in minutes, or hours now. We are able to connect to various sources to define a data product which is meaningful to our customers, normalizing across sources, and present it in a manner which aligns with our preferred architecture patterns, both in terms of protocol, pattern, and security." - IT Manager
A Director of Data Engineering describes Denodo's role in a data fabric approach based on federation.
"Denodo Delivers on Modern Data Approaches: As a platform, Denodo has really delivered in helping us realize our strategy of a data fabric centered on federation. The customer success team has been invaluable in our positive adoption and has remained fully engaged from the moment of implementation. The technology itself has lived up to the promise. On the surface, the data virtualization aspects are straightforward and easily learned, and time from integration to data delivery has certainly been reduced. But, there is also room to dive deeper into more advanced areas of the platform, allowing for even more benefits as we continue to modernize our data offerings and drive towards new levels of data literacy." - Director of Data Engineering
Ongoing competition
The Magic Quadrant for Data Integration Tools places vendors into four categories. These are Leaders, Challengers, Visionaries, and Niche Players.
Suppliers compete on product offering, market presence and strategic direction. They also compete on their ability to meet customer requirements for governance, security and AI support.
Denodo faces rivals that invest in similar AI-enhanced features for data pipelines and integration platforms. Most large cloud and analytics providers now position data integration as a core service around their AI products.
Denodo operates in a global market for tools that manage and integrate data across hybrid and multi-cloud environments. The company focuses on logical data management as its main approach.
The latest recognition from Gartner extends Denodo's run in the Leader segment of the data integration market. The company plans further updates to its platform roadmap, including new AI functions such as "Ask Anything" in its data catalog.
