Godrej launches Amethyst AI engine for group-wide gains

Fri, 23rd Jan 2026

Godrej Enterprises Group has launched Amethyst, a unified AI intelligence engine that it plans to use across its businesses, with an expected productivity uplift of 10-15% from automation and AI-led decision processes.

The group said Amethyst sits across platforms, internal programmes, workforce training, AI agents and cross-platform orchestration. It positions the system as a single framework for process automation with governance and security controls built in.

Godrej Enterprises Group operates across a wide set of industrial and consumer segments, including aerospace and defence manufacturing, energy, intralogistics, construction services, consumer durables, locks and security solutions, and IT services. The company said it designed Amethyst for use across functions such as sales, manufacturing, supply chain, finance, HR and service.

Group-wide rollout

Godrej Enterprises Group described Amethyst as an approach for using AI across business units while maintaining common governance. The company said it expects the system to shift work away from manual and siloed processes.

Amethyst includes agentic AI orchestration. Godrej Enterprises Group said it will use that orchestration for end-to-end workflows across enterprise functions. The company also referenced mobile-first intelligence for frontline operations.

The group said the platform also supports computer vision and robotics use cases. It linked these technologies with quality and safety processes across factories and warehouses. It also pointed to real-time decision-making in operational environments.

Productivity target

Godrej Enterprises Group said it expects Amethyst to enhance productivity by 10-15% across the group. It linked the expectation to AI-led automation and the use of intelligence across business processes.

The company also framed the initiative around broader adoption patterns in India, where firms have increasingly moved from pilot projects to enterprise deployments. Godrej Enterprises Group referenced public investment in AI and national initiatives in its announcement.

"As India's AI ecosystem matures, the opportunity for enterprises is not just to adopt technology, but to apply it meaningfully and responsibly at scale. At Godrej Enterprises Group, Amethyst represents progressive innovation with purpose, a strategic commitment to using AI as a force multiplier that empowers our people, strengthens our businesses, and delivers real value to consumers and communities. By embedding trust and governance at the core, we create an affinity between technology and people, delivering intelligent experiences that are inclusive, future-ready, and transformative. This initiative is one of many steps we are taking to support India's AI Mission and to ensure that innovation is harmonized with responsibility," said Nyrika Holkar, Executive Director, Godrej Enterprises Group.

Responsible AI focus

Godrej Enterprises Group said it built security, ethics and Responsible AI into the core of Amethyst. It also described a governance and orchestration backbone that business units will use alongside their own domain expertise.

The company positioned workforce adoption as a central element of the rollout. It said it will run group-wide capability-building programmes for AI fluency and provide AI assistants and tools for employees. It tied these tools to reducing repetitive work.

Godrej Enterprises Group also referenced "frontline intelligence" for factories and operations. It said it expects the approach to integrate AI into day-to-day environments such as manufacturing sites, warehouses and field service settings.

Technology stack

Godrej Enterprises Group said Amethyst combines agentic systems with a common data and governance foundation. It also cited a small learning model as part of the approach for establishing business context.

"Amethyst is not just an AI platform; it is the intelligence layer of the enterprise. By combining agentic systems, a common data and governance foundation, and deep business context established through an SLM (Small Learning Model), we are moving from fragmented automation to proactive, decision-driven intelligence. This allows us to reclaim thousands of productive hours, improve accuracy and safety, and embed intelligence directly into products, operations, and customer experience. With a federated architecture and workforce-centric design, Amethyst ensures secure, scalable collaboration across businesses while empowering teams with intuitive, AI-driven tools to enhance productivity and decision-making," said Vijay Balakrishnan.

Godrej Enterprises Group said it named the system after the gemstone amethyst. It also said future products and solutions will carry a "Powered by Amethyst" signature as the platform evolves.
