Hightekers buys Remunance to expand Rivermate in India

Hightekers Group has acquired Indian Employer of Record provider Remunance, adding it to the group that includes the global employment brand Rivermate.
Remunance will continue to operate under its own brand, while existing clients gain access to Rivermate's broader international infrastructure. That network spans more than 180 countries through 38 owned legal entities and local partners.
The deal gives Hightekers a stronger base in India, where Remunance has built an Employer of Record and payroll business serving more than 150 international clients. It also has eight offices and provides onboarding, payroll, statutory compliance, benefits administration and contractor management.
For Rivermate, the purchase adds in-house operations and local expertise in a market that has become increasingly important for cross-border hiring. India is a major destination for international employers seeking talent in technology and business services, and many companies are using external employment structures rather than setting up local entities.
India focus
The deal comes as India's role in global workforce planning continues to grow. The expansion of Global Capability Centres has increased the country's importance in technology and artificial intelligence recruitment, with overseas employers from the US, Europe, Singapore and the UAE contributing to demand.
That trend has also supported wider use of Employer of Record models, which allow companies to hire staff in overseas markets while leaving payroll, employment contracts and local compliance obligations to a specialist provider.
Hightekers is seeking to deepen Rivermate's position in that sector by building a stronger local operating presence rather than relying solely on partner coverage. Adding Remunance gives it an established platform in India, where employment regulation, payroll requirements and statutory obligations can be complex.
Remunance is known in India as a provider of Employer of Record and payroll services to foreign clients entering or expanding in the country. Its client base and direct operations give Hightekers immediate scale in a market where trust, compliance and local execution are often decisive in winning international business.
Global reach
Hightekers operates through its Hightekers and Rivermate brands, offering Employer of Record, Contractor of Record, payroll and freelancer management services. Across the group, it supports clients and workers in more than 180 countries through 38 wholly owned entities and a wider partner network.
The group's strategy appears to focus on combining global coverage with direct operational control in selected markets. India now joins the list of locations where Rivermate can offer additional services through internal teams.
The Remunance name will remain in place after the acquisition, suggesting Hightekers wants to retain the local reputation and customer relationships the business has already established. That approach may also help Rivermate expand in India without forcing the immediate integration of a brand known to international employers that use Indian payroll and compliance services.
Existing Remunance customers are expected to benefit from Rivermate's wider geographic coverage. For multinational employers, access to a single provider with both Indian operations and a broader international network can reduce the need to manage multiple local suppliers across countries.
The transaction reflects broader consolidation across the global employment services market, as providers seek stronger positions in key hiring destinations. India stands out because of the size of its labour pool, the growth of remote and distributed hiring, and the expansion of multinational back-office and technology functions.
Roger Oudiz, Chairman of Rivermate, outlined the rationale for the deal.
