KnowBe4 launches free arcade-themed kit for Security Month

Today

KnowBe4 has released a complimentary arcade-themed Cybersecurity Awareness Month tool kit to align with the 2025 theme, "Secure Our World."

Cybersecurity Awareness Month has taken place annually since 2004, following a collaboration between the US Department of Homeland Security and the National Cyber Security Alliance. The month is intended to encourage organisations globally to enhance their security culture by focusing on awareness and education.

This year, the campaign aims to draw attention to straightforward and effective practices for cybersecurity, which include the adoption of strong passwords, enabling non-phishable multifactor authentication (MFA), recognising and reporting phishing attempts, and maintaining up-to-date software.

KnowBe4's resource kit offers a range of materials and activities, all accessible free of charge, designed to assist individuals and organisations in supporting the security awareness campaign.

Resource kit contents

The kit is arcade-themed and features components such as four "Arcade Villain" character cards that transform common cybersecurity threats into retro eight-bit-style adversaries. There are also training modules available, including "Insights From a Hacker" and "AI, Phishing, and Cybersafety", which can be accessed in up to 36 languages.

Additional materials in the kit include ready-to-use posters and digital signage for both physical office environments and remote workplaces. A comprehensive Weekly Planner is also provided, aimed at helping organisations structure their activities throughout October, which is the designated Cybersecurity Awareness Month.

Focus on human risk management

"Every October, we have this incredible opportunity to reset and refocus on what really matters in cybersecurity – human risk management. This comprehensive resource kit empowers organizations to build genuine security culture where employees understand not just what to do, but why it matters. When we empower employees with knowledge, we are not just protecting data – we are helping to 'Secure Our World'," said Erich Kron, Security Awareness Advocate at KnowBe4.

The 2025 theme, "Secure Our World," reinforces the global initiative to prioritise the protection of digital information and technology assets. KnowBe4 aims for the resource kit to serve as a practical tool to help reinforce this message among organisations of all sizes. The kit's approach, by integrating game-like visual elements, seeks to communicate key cybersecurity concepts in a more accessible manner for a wide audience.

Cybersecurity Awareness Month focuses on basic but crucial security behaviours. The organisers hope that by raising awareness and providing resources, businesses and individuals alike will prioritise actions that reduce risks posed by digital threats, including phishing and social engineering attacks.

Global accessibility

The KnowBe4 kit's training materials, offered in several dozen languages, are designed to be inclusive and usable by organisations and employees internationally. The digital and printable resources can be used in a variety of settings, including both traditional office spaces and remote workstations.

The kit's Weekly Planner offers structured guidance for organisations to run awareness activities, training, and communications throughout the month. These efforts are meant to complement and support internal cybersecurity programmes within businesses, government agencies, and non-profit groups.

The kit is available without charge to support both small and large organisations during Cybersecurity Awareness Month, and KnowBe4 indicates that this is the seventh annual resource kit supplied for the global campaign. The company states that it intends to help build stronger security cultures by making effective educational tools easily accessible.
