NTT DATA, Mistral AI partner on AI for regulated sectors
NTT DATA and Mistral AI have agreed to collaborate on private artificial intelligence ecosystems for enterprises in Europe and Asia-Pacific, with a focus on regulated sectors.
The partnership will see both companies co-develop end-to-end AI solutions, designed to address data privacy, model interpretability, and ethical deployment. NTT DATA will combine its portfolio of generative AI, IT services, and global delivery with Mistral AI's generative models and specialised AI tools, delivering AI systems intended for use in industries such as financial services, insurance, defence, and the public sector.
Sovereign approach
The collaboration will prioritise open and sovereign technology architecture, backed by ethical practices and in alignment with emerging global AI legislation. This is part of NTT DATA's wider strategy to scale artificial intelligence across its own operations and clients, while setting internal standards on responsible and secure AI deployment in anticipation of unified regulations.
According to the two companies, the initial phase of their agreement includes the joint development of private AI solutions for organisations requiring a high degree of security and regulatory compliance. Mistral AI and NTT DATA will offer infrastructure-to-business process packages for clients operating on private cloud, with a further emphasis on sustainable implementation.
Customer and technical focus
The companies will also integrate Mistral AI's technologies into NTT DATA's customer experience platforms, starting with agentic AI call centre solutions for the European and Asia-Pacific markets. This rollout could extend to the co-development of large language models for tailored local and industry requirements.
Both firms plan to create regional market strategies targeting France, Luxembourg, Spain, Singapore, and Australia. Joint AI offerings will include use-case development, customisation, support, and managed services, with dedicated sales teams to address the particular needs of enterprise clients.
As part of the initiative, NTT DATA will establish a Mistral AI Centre of Excellence, staffed by subject matter experts and dedicated resources, while Mistral AI will launch a technical enablement and certification programme for NTT DATA's personnel.

First deployments
Dennemeyer, a global provider of intellectual property management, has chosen Mistral AI and NTT DATA to develop an AI-driven application for advanced patent searches and analyses. The project is intended to securely facilitate complex AI workloads in the IP sector.
"Dennemeyer continues to be a driving force in the digital transformation of the IP industry; a key aspect of this is strong partnerships with organisations like Mistral AI and NTT DATA, who bring a deep technical understanding of AI and its integration into business processes," said Brochmann Laurent, Global Chief Digital Officer, Dennemeyer.
Additionally, NTT DATA Luxembourg and Mistral AI will jointly create a sovereign platform in Luxembourg for customers in the financial and insurance sectors, supporting deployment of critical industry applications in compliance with local regulatory requirements.
"This collaboration offers a landmark opportunity to accelerate the adoption of AI across the financial and insurance markets in Luxembourg and beyond," said Olivier Posty, Head of France and Luxembourg, NTT DATA. "Together, we're creating a full-stack platform that is ready to host critical financial applications."
Mistral AI, which was founded in 2023, has achieved significant milestones with its generative AI portfolio, including the launch of Le Chat, an assistant which saw one million downloads within two weeks of its release. NTT DATA delivers technology and business services globally and aims to further expand its provision of AI solutions through the partnership.
