Arrowpoint Investment Partners has selected Arcesium as its technology and operations partner. The Singapore-based investment firm manages US$2 billion.

As it expands its Asia-focused multi-strategy business across a range of markets and asset classes, Arrowpoint is using Arcesium's Opterra investment lifecycle management platform. The arrangement is intended to help the firm onboard new portfolio managers and launch new strategies more quickly.

Founded in 2024 by a former Millennium Asia Co-Chief Executive Officer, Arrowpoint has offices in Singapore, Hong Kong and Dubai. It oversees 24 portfolio managers across Asia and the Middle East.

The deal highlights how hedge funds and multi-manager investment firms in Asia are investing in data and operational systems to handle a broader mix of strategies, instruments and regional market structures. For newer firms in particular, the choice of external providers can shape how quickly they add teams and manage the operational demands of growth.

Arrowpoint said it wanted a partner that could support rapid workflows and process large volumes of data as investment activity grows across multiple asset classes. Arcesium provides software and managed services to financial institutions, including hedge funds, asset managers, private markets firms, sell-side groups and digital asset companies.

Its Opterra platform is designed to cover the investment lifecycle from front to back office. Arcesium says it serves more than US$6.7 trillion in gross assets under management and more than US$1.2 trillion in sell-side capital balances, and has modelled more than 178 million investments.

Woon Young Jeong, Chief Operating Officer at Arrowpoint, said the firm chose Arcesium because of its experience with large multi-strategy investment firms and its international operating reach.

"Using Arcesium's technology and operational platform enables us to achieve efficient and scalable growth through our Asia-focused strategy," said Woon Young Jeong, Chief Operating Officer at Arrowpoint Investment Partners.

"The company's pedigree of working with large multi-strategy firms, its managed services' global coverage, and its intelligent technology made it the right partner to support our goals. Arcesium's deep capabilities within the hedge fund ecosystem mean our portfolio managers can quickly deploy and scale new strategies, supported by operational infrastructure capable of matching our growth ambitions," Jeong added.

Regional push

For Arcesium, the mandate adds another client in a region where fund managers are building out trading and support functions in financial centres including Hong Kong and Singapore. It opened a Hong Kong office earlier this year as part of a broader Asia-Pacific expansion.

That regional growth comes as hedge funds seek to capture trading opportunities across Asian equity, credit, macro and relative value strategies, while also dealing with fragmented market infrastructure and regulatory differences between jurisdictions. Firms operating across Asia and the Middle East often need systems that can consolidate data from multiple brokers, custodians and venues.

Chris Barrow, Head of Revenue for EMEA & APAC at Arcesium, described the Arrowpoint launch as one of the most prominent recent entrants in the region.

"We are delighted to partner with Arrowpoint as one of the most sophisticated and high-profile launches we've seen in Asia. Since opening the Arcesium office in Hong Kong earlier this year and expanding our presence in the region, we are quickly gaining momentum with other hedge funds and asset managers and tapping into strong market interest in Hong Kong and Singapore. Partnering with a high-calibre client like Arrowpoint is a key milestone and we look forward to enabling the firm to scale in new directions with the support of our technology and managed services," Barrow said.

Arcesium was developed from a platform created by the D. E. Shaw group and launched as a joint venture with Blackstone Multi-Asset Investing. J.P. Morgan later made a strategic investment in the business. The company says it has more than 2,600 employees across software engineering, accounting, operations and treasury.
