Data Squared & Vertosoft partner to deliver explainable AI

Today

Data Squared has entered into a contracting partnership with Vertosoft to provide explainable artificial intelligence (AI) solutions to government agencies through established procurement channels.

The agreement brings together Data Squared's patented explainable AI technology with Vertosoft's distribution network, enabling federal, state, and local public sector organisations to access AI tools designed for transparency and reliability. The collaboration comes in the context of the US government's increasing regulatory focus on trustworthy AI adoption and procurement efficiency.

Government focus on AI transparency

The partnership is positioned to address government standards for AI transparency, security, and regulatory compliance. Data Squared's explainable AI offering, currently used for applications such as intelligence analysis and fraud investigation, is anchored in its reView platform. This tool uses graph-connected evidence networks to provide AI outputs with clear, verifiable sourcing - an approach intended to reduce the risk of "hallucinations" associated with some generative AI models.

Jon Brewton, Chief Executive Officer of Data Squared, addressed the demand for dependable AI within public sector agencies.

"Government agencies are at a critical inflection point with AI adoption. They recognize the transformative potential of AI but need upgraded solutions that deliver true and trusted results. Our partnership with Vertosoft creates a direct path for agencies to deploy our patented explainable AI technology through Vertosoft's proven network procurement channels, ensuring they can use the power of AI while maintaining required oversight, traceability, and explainability."

This requirement for clarity and auditability in AI applications has grown with the government's increased use of automation in mission-critical settings, where outcomes must be fully justified and sourced.

Technical details and use cases

Data Squared's reView platform leverages patented Graph and Hybrid Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) technology. This technical approach allows all AI-generated responses to be traced directly back to their source data through visual traceability features. According to the company, the platform's accuracy using this method reaches 99%, compared to the 60–80% accuracy typical of traditional RAG-based models.

Key use cases for reView within government reported to date include reducing analysis time in intelligence operations, enhancing fraud detection with explainable outputs, supporting border security with cross-border data analysis, and providing reliable recommendations for critical infrastructure security. The platform also integrates multiple types of datasets - structured, unstructured, and time-series - facilitating conclusions from disparate sources.

Vertosoft's role in public sector access

Vertosoft's portfolio of government contract vehicles and a broad partner network will help make Data Squared's offerings available to agencies via established government procurement processes. The channel includes direct contracts, a network of system integrators, acquisition support, and customer success programmes.

Josh Slattery, Vice President of Tech Sales at Vertosoft, highlighted the importance of the partnership's focus on transparency-driven AI.

"We're excited to partner with Data2 and bring their groundbreaking explainable AI technology to the public sector. This new partnership perfectly aligns with our mission of accelerating the adoption of innovative technologies that solve the government's challenges across industries. Data2 is uniquely able to provide transparent, hallucination-resistant AI that fills a critical gap in the market, and we're proud to provide agencies with access to this technology through our portfolio of contracted vehicles and channel partners."

Compliance with existing security regulations, such as those from the Department of Defence (DoD) and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), was cited as a foundational design principle for both the software offering and its delivery mechanisms. The platform supports zero-trust architectures and can be deployed across different cloud environments, including settings with classified-level requirements.

Procurement context and future direction

The partnership is being launched with immediate availability for agencies wishing to pilot or deploy the explainable AI solution. Recent executive actions on government procurement have increased focus on acquiring proven technologies and facilitating collaboration between specialised technology companies and contractors managing acquisition for federal, state, and local entities.

The companies state that the union enables organisations to move toward deploying AI solutions capable of delivering actionable intelligence across previously disconnected data domains, supporting oversight, accuracy and compliance.
