Thu, 25th Jan 2024

Equinix, a global digital infrastructure company, has unveiled a fully managed private cloud service aimed at assisting enterprises to acquire and administer their NVIDIA DGX AI supercomputing capacity efficiently for the building and operation of custom generative AI models.

The service, which is already operational, comprises NVIDIA DGX systems, NVIDIA networking as well as the enterprise-focused NVIDIA AI software platform. Through this arrangement, Equinix will handle installation and operation of individual NVIDIA infrastructures privately owned by customers. There's also the option to deploy services on behalf of the customers in selected International Business ExchangeTM (IBX) data centres globally.

Charles Meyers, Equinix President and CEO, highlights how the service caters to the needs of enterprises aiming to tap into the undisputed potential of generative AI. He adds, "To harness the incredible potential of generative AI, enterprises need adaptable, scalable hybrid infrastructure in their local markets to bring AI supercomputing to their data. Our new service provides customers with a fast and cost-effective way to adopt advanced AI infrastructure that's operated and managed by experts globally."

Jensen Huang, the NVIDIA Founder and CEO, emphasises how this partnership with Equinix will transform industries through generative AI. In his words, "Generative AI is transforming every industry. Now, enterprises can own NVIDIA AI supercomputing and software, paired with the operational efficiency of Equinix management, in hundreds of data centres worldwide."

Industries such as biopharma, financial services, software, automotive and retail are among the early beneficiaries of the service, using it to establish AI Centres of Excellence. From developing new medications to creating virtual productivity assistants and customer service AI copilots, these sectors are harnessing the power of AI through Equinix's service. It embodies a scalable solution that can fuel innovation and allow enterprises to scale their operations to meet the demanding AI performance levels required to develop and operate complex models.

The service offers customers private and rapid access to their AI infrastructure that is managed by Equinix and located close to their data. It includes high-speed private network entry to global network service providers, ensuring swift generative AI information retrieval across corporate-wide area networks. Moreover, it provides private, high-capacity interconnections to cloud and enterprise service providers, ensuring optimal AI workloads privacy and compliance with data security.

On top of the flexibility offered by the service, customers can access their NVIDIA AI Enterprise software, facilitating the development and deployment of production-grade AI applications, including generative AI. The service also provides enterprise-level support and security, featuring Equinix’s IBX data centre professionals who will assist customers in swiftly building and rolling out their custom AI models. Assistance is also readily available from NVIDIA AI specialists.

The fully managed private cloud service is already available to customers globally.
