FM opens Bengaluru AI centre to boost Asia risk services

Thu, 24th Jul 2025

FM has announced the opening of a new centre in Bengaluru as it expands its operations in India.

The insurer plans to establish a centre of excellence in Bengaluru, focusing on science and artificial intelligence capabilities. The move is intended to enhance FM's risk engineering services for clients, support regional operations, and serve as a launch pad for further growth across Asia.

This new facility will feature a client experience centre, where clients, prospects, colleagues, and partners can access training and learn about FM's risk-mitigation and loss-prevention solutions, informed by scientific research. The aim is to foster close collaboration between global teams and the expanding local operations in India.

Strategic location

Bengaluru was selected for its established reputation as a centre of technology expertise and its large pool of engineering and AI talent. FM highlighted the city's innovation ecosystem as an asset for its global ambitions.

According to the company, the decision to expand operations in India reflects India's ongoing emergence as a global economic and manufacturing hub. FM has operated in India since 2003. The new Bengaluru centre signals a deepened focus on the region.

In addition to the Bengaluru centre, FM will open a new sales office in Mumbai later in the year. The Mumbai office is expected to bring the company closer to major clients and decision-makers in India's financial capital, supporting FM's activities in an important commercial centre.

Leadership and plans for hiring

FM has appointed Srini Krishnamurthy to the role of Senior Vice President, FM India. Krishnamurthy, who will be based in Bengaluru and report to Chief Operating Officer Randy Hodge, is responsible for executing the company's multi-year vision for India. His remit includes site operations, cross-functional team leadership and infrastructure development.

The insurer confirmed that it plans to expand its workforce in India as a result of these moves, with career opportunities opening across a range of roles.

"India is not just a growth market - it's becoming a global centre for innovation, infrastructure, artificial intelligence, and talent," said Krishnamurthy. "The Bengaluru centre represents a critical step in FM's mission to build science-based solutions that empower our clients to manage risk and thrive in an increasingly complex world. This is more than a regional investment; it's a global commitment to resilience, backed by world-class talent and deep client collaboration."

The company's expansion in both Bengaluru and Mumbai is part of a broader strategy to support clients in regions experiencing rapid economic growth and to access what it describes as one of the world's richest pools of engineering and technology talent.
