HighPoint offers free firmware customisation for NVMe AICs

Yesterday

HighPoint Technologies has announced the availability of firmware customisation for all Gen5 and 2nd Gen4 NVMe AIC and Adapter product lines, offering this service free of charge for project and solution partners.

This service allows organisations to customise their storage infrastructure to meet the changing performance and capacity needs of data-intensive workloads. HighPoint's Rocket 7600/1600 Series stands as the standard for Gen5 x16 NVMe AICs and adapters, as the demand for Gen5 DC and enterprise media is expected to increase significantly in 2025.

The Rocket 7600 and 1600 series adapters are designed to support up to 32 NVMe devices from a single PCIe x16 slot, enhancing scalability and flexibility for customers. The firm's dedication to industry-standard server and datacenter specifications, combined with its PCIe switching architecture and firmware customisation, enable rapid infrastructure upgrades.

HighPoint Technologies' Managing Director, Brian Do, explained, "HighPoint's Gen5 NVMe customisation delivers unmatched value by facilitating seamless storage expansion for next-generation computing platforms. Rocket 7600 and 1600 series NVMe Adapters enable customers to rapidly deploy storage solutions for edge and datacenter environments, and optimise or scale storage infrastructure for unique applications and workflows."

The adapters' enhanced storage scalability is exemplified as they offer support for up to 32 devices per PCIe x16 slot and allow for configurable PCIe lane counts. This configuration, which includes a unique x2 mode for enterprise storage media, allows a single NVMe SSD to operate as two logical paths, optimising performance.

In terms of integration, the Rocket 7600/1600 series adapters comply with industry standards such as UBM and VPP, allowing easy integration into diverse high-performance edge server environments.

The advanced device management capabilities of these adapters are possible through the use of the SMBus interface, which retrieves vital field-replaceable unit data, including device identification and manufacturing details, as well as NVMe device and performance metrics, depending on manufacturer support.

HighPoint Technologies has fortified its technological ecosystem through collaborations with top NVMe drive vendors and solution providers, ensuring a broad platform compatibility. This collaboration aims to facilitate custom-tailored storage and connectivity products suitable for high-performance applications in data centers, HPC environments, and AI/machine learning workflows.

Using this robust ecosystem, HighPoint products provide compatibility with a wide range of storage media, enabling seamless integration into standard x86 Intel/AMD or ARM Server and Workstation Platforms. This compatibility offers customers flexibility to optimise storage infrastructure to meet demanding performance and capacity requirements.
