ELCOMA and Ace Exhibitions have partnered to launch the Lighting World & Home Tech Expo in India, described by the organisers as the country's first dedicated platform for smart lighting and home technology.

The partnership was announced in New Delhi, where the organisations signed a memorandum of understanding and held a panel discussion on smart lighting and home technology. The event is intended to bring lighting products, automation systems, audio-visual integration, energy management tools and connected home products together under one roof.

The launch comes as India's lighting and smart home markets expand, with demand rising for connected devices in homes and buildings. Figures cited by the organisers value the Indian lighting market at about USD $3.83 billion in 2025, with forecasts putting it at USD $5.12 billion by 2031.

Growth projections for related segments are sharper. The smart lighting market is expected to rise from nearly USD $1.2 billion in 2025 to more than USD $11.5 billion by 2034, while the smart home market is projected to grow from USD $5.2 billion in 2025 to USD $24.1 billion by 2031.

Market backdrop

The forecasts reflect a broader shift in India towards connected and automated home systems. Urbanisation, rising household spending, wider access to internet-connected devices and growing interest in app-based control systems are all contributing to the trend.

Lighting has become central to that shift as manufacturers move beyond conventional products to systems linked with sensors, software and voice interfaces. The category now overlaps with broader home management systems, including energy monitoring, security and audio-visual controls.

For industry groups and exhibition organisers, that overlap creates an opportunity to reach both trade buyers and end consumers. The expo is being positioned as both a business-facing and consumer-facing event, reflecting how smart lighting and home technology now span professional installation markets as well as household purchasing.

ELCOMA represents manufacturers of lamps, lighting fixtures and components in India. Established in 1970, the association works with industry and government stakeholders on standards, technology development and energy-efficient products.

Ace Exhibitions, a division of ACEXM7 Events, organises specialised trade fairs and consumer exhibitions across lifestyle, technology and home-related sectors in India. The partnership combines an industry body with an organiser already active in the events market.

Industry comments

Parag Bhatnagar, President of ELCOMA, set out the association's view of the sector's direction.

"The lighting industry in India is evolving rapidly towards intelligent, connected, and sustainable systems. Through this partnership with Ace Exhibitions, we aim to create a dedicated platform that promotes innovation, industry collaboration, and future-ready technologies aligned with India's smart infrastructure goals," Bhatnagar said.

ELCOMA's leadership also pointed to the growing overlap between lighting products and home automation systems.

"The convergence of smart lighting and home automation is transforming the sector. This Expo will provide manufacturers, designers, and integrators with a valuable forum to exchange ideas, showcase interoperable solutions, and address emerging industry standards and opportunities," said Amal Sengupta, Secretary General of ELCOMA.

The exhibition will cover products ranging from lamps, luminaires and components to home automation and connected living systems. It will also include technical seminars, buyer-seller meetings, workshops and innovation showcases focused on technologies such as Li-Fi, circadian lighting, AI-driven automation and net-zero building systems.

The agenda suggests the organisers are aiming to reach a broad section of the supply chain, from manufacturers and designers to integrators and technology providers. It also reflects how lighting is increasingly linked to wider building management and home control systems rather than standing alone as a separate product category.

India has become a growing market for that convergence, as policy support for smart infrastructure sits alongside private demand for connected home products. The organisers said the expo aligns with national programmes such as the Smart Cities Mission and with broader sustainability goals, themes that have become common in the marketing of home and building technologies.

Anupreet Singh Jaggi, Managing Director of ACEXM7 Events, outlined how the organisers see the exhibition's role.

"The Lighting World & Home Tech Expo is designed to bridge the worlds of lighting and home automation under one dynamic platform. The event aligns closely with national initiatives such as the Smart Cities Mission and India's broader sustainability goals. We envision it as an annual flagship event that drives business growth, encourages innovation, promotes 'Make in India' products, and positions Delhi-NCR as a hub for smart living technologies," Jaggi said.
