Kyndryl completes Pidilite's cloud migration to Google

Kyndryl has completed Pidilite Industries' IT modernisation with Google Cloud, migrating the company's non-ERP workloads and enabling its exit from its data centre.

Kyndryl moved workloads from on-premises systems and existing cloud environments to Google Cloud, where it now manages the environment on an ongoing basis. The new set-up is live in production across Pidilite's non-ERP estate.

The work marks a significant shift in the technology infrastructure of Pidilite, the Indian manufacturer behind brands including Fevicol, Dr. Fixit and Fevicryl. Its portfolio includes adhesives and sealants, construction chemicals, art materials, stationery, fabric care products and industrial resins.

According to the companies, the project delivered a 20% improvement in service response and cut infrastructure provisioning and turnaround times by 30%. They added that performance had become more consistent across Pidilite's application landscape.

The migration focused on non-ERP systems rather than core enterprise resource planning platforms, indicating that Pidilite took a phased approach to changing its wider technology estate. That approach is common among large companies seeking to reduce disruption as they move legacy systems and workloads to public cloud infrastructure.

Kyndryl said the engagement drew on its hybrid and multi-cloud services, including migration, governance and managed services. It added that cloud-native management practices and automation were used to improve operational visibility and routine IT processes.

Pidilite linked the project to a broader digital transformation programme, saying the infrastructure changes were intended to support longer-term business priorities, including data and artificial intelligence initiatives.

Pidilite said the change had also simplified day-to-day operations for its internal teams, describing the cloud transition as a way to improve responsiveness while reducing the burden of infrastructure management.

Cloud shift

The deal reflects a wider trend among Indian companies moving applications and supporting systems from privately run infrastructure to public cloud providers. For many large groups, the shift is tied to cost control, faster deployment of IT resources and a push to standardise operations across dispersed business units.

Kyndryl framed the project as part of that broader shift, saying structured migration methods were used to update Pidilite's hybrid cloud environment and support business growth.

For Pidilite, the completed migration removes the need to run its own data centre for the workloads included in the programme. Those applications now run on Google Cloud under Kyndryl's managed service model, with the reported gains in response times and provisioning speed representing the project's first measurable outcomes.
