PlanRadar launches AI agents for project workflows

PlanRadar has launched AI Agents for its construction, facility management and real estate software platform. The tools are available across all PlanRadar plans.

The product targets routine project tasks that typically require manual follow-up, including searching project documents, automating workflow steps and drafting responses to requests for information. The agents are designed to act automatically once triggered inside the platform, rather than waiting for an approval step.

The launch comes as interest in practical uses of artificial intelligence grows across the built environment, including in Singapore, where authorities have highlighted applications such as project document review, workflow automation and automated site reporting.

Customers can create their own agents using natural language prompts or use pre-built versions supplied within the platform. One example is a response agent that reads an incoming RFI, searches project documents and prepares a reply that identifies the source material used.

That process can reduce the time to a first response from hours to minutes. Each action taken by an agent is logged and attributed, and customers can test an agent before deploying it on live work.

Control and oversight

PlanRadar has positioned the product around automating repetitive work while leaving project decisions to staff. Each agent runs against the access rights of the person who created it, limiting what it can see or do to that user's permissions.

The agents also run within PlanRadar's existing security and data protection framework, with no change to how project data is stored or processed. The software provider said those standards are ISO-certified.

For some customers, the operational appeal will be in handling the volume of minor actions generated by construction and property projects. General contractors, specialist contractors and project managers tend to manage large numbers of issues and inspections, making them likely early users of tools that automate follow-up work.

Ibrahim Imam, Group Co-Chief Executive Officer, PlanRadar, said the product is intended to reduce the amount of routine administration carried out by project teams.

"Our customers want the routine work on a project to take care of itself, without giving up any control over what happens, and that is exactly what PlanRadar AI Agents deliver. Our agents catch what could otherwise slip through and turn into rework, so project teams can focus on the judgement calls only people can make. For PlanRadar customers, this shift means agents that get on with the work as it happens," said Imam.

Built into workflow

PlanRadar's approach differs from standalone AI tools that require users to move between systems. The agents are built directly into its existing software, which already includes document management, reporting and integrations.

Clemens Hammerl, Chief Product Officer, PlanRadar, said customers wanted more work completed within the same system rather than through a separate interface.

"Customers do not want another system to log into or another workspace to manage. They want more of their jobs completed from just one location. PlanRadar AI Agents run on existing project data, with each agent checked against its creator's own access every time it runs, so nothing it does goes further than the person who built it could. Building an AI Agent is like briefing a new teammate, easy to describe in your own words, and ready to act every time you need it. Every agent is built on that same principle, real autonomy matched with real control," said Hammerl.

PlanRadar also offers engineering support to customers that want help identifying and building automation use cases. Its Forward Deployed Engineers work directly with teams to get initial agents into production more quickly.

Adding AI-based task execution marks a further step from documentation and reporting towards automated action inside day-to-day workflows.
