Proofpoint joins Google security programme as partner

Proofpoint has joined Google's Unified Security Recommended programme as a partner, a designation that recognises its technical integrations with Google Cloud Security products.

The partnership centres on integrating Proofpoint's security tools with Google Cloud's security offering to help customers manage threat detection, investigations and protection across email, collaboration tools and sensitive data.

Google's Unified Security Recommended programme is invitation-only and highlights security suppliers that meet its standards for product integration, customer support and joint development. For Proofpoint, the move places it among a select group of vendors formally recognised by Google for interoperability across its security environment.

The announcement comes as businesses face pressure to simplify security operations while managing rising risks tied to cloud use, collaboration software and artificial intelligence. Security teams are increasingly looking for fewer disconnected tools and more integrated systems that can share telemetry and intelligence across different parts of an organisation's technology estate.

Proofpoint said its role in the programme builds on existing work with Google Cloud Security and is intended to improve protection in hybrid and multi-cloud environments. The integrations are available now.

Integration focus

Proofpoint highlighted threat protection for email and collaboration platforms, improved visibility for security teams and support for AI-related workflows. It also pointed to integrated telemetry and security intelligence designed to speed investigations and response.

The emphasis reflects a broader trend in the cybersecurity market, where vendors are seeking closer links with major cloud providers as customers move more data and workloads off traditional on-premises infrastructure. Proofpoint describes itself as a specialist in what it calls human- and agent-centric cybersecurity, focused on securing the ways people, data and AI systems connect across email, cloud services and collaboration applications. Its customer base includes more than 80 of the Fortune 100, more than 14,000 large enterprises and millions of smaller organisations.

The move also underlines the growing importance of AI in security buying decisions. As companies adopt AI tools within business workflows, security suppliers are increasingly positioning their products around protecting not only users and information, but also the automated systems and agents that interact with them.
