QNX & VVDN partner for safety-critical automotive solutions
QNX and VVDN Technologies have announced a collaboration to deliver safety-critical solutions for the automotive and embedded sectors.
The partnership brings together QNX's safety-certified software, including its real-time operating systems and hypervisors, with VVDN's capabilities in automotive electronics, hardware design and end-to-end manufacturing. The companies aim to support customers in automotive, industrial, medical, aerospace and defence, and other mission-critical industries to accelerate the development of embedded software and systems.
This engagement will combine QNX's software stack, which includes QNX Neutrino RTOS and QNX Hypervisor for Safety, with VVDN's expertise, aiming to provide a secure and reliable foundation for applications such as software-defined vehicles, advanced driver assistance systems, digital cockpits, eMobility and embedded solutions in sectors ranging from medical devices to robotics.
Areas of focus
In the automotive domain, the collaboration will address the growing demand for software-defined vehicles (SDVs), by combining QNX's foundational software with VVDN's work in centralised electronic control unit (ECU) development and over-the-air updates. The companies expect this to simplify SDV development and support continuous improvement cycles.
Advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), automated driving, and autonomous solutions will also be a major focus area. QNX's real-time performance and safety certifications are being leveraged alongside VVDN's sensor fusion, artificial intelligence and machine learning integration, and camera-based expertise to enhance vehicle safety and reliability.
The agreement also covers digital cockpit and infotainment systems, aiming to deliver secure, customisable user interfaces by integrating QNX operating systems with VVDN's multimedia development capabilities.
For eMobility, sectors such as electric vehicles will benefit from VVDN's experience in battery management systems, power electronics design, and EV charger technology combined with QNX's security-focused software solutions.
Outside the automotive sphere, the companies plan to support embedded applications in industries such as medical technology, industrial automation, robotics, aerospace and defence. Together, they intend to deliver hardware platforms supported by board support packages and device drivers optimised for QNX software, aiming to provide value to equipment manufacturers seeking scalable and secure embedded systems.
