Salesforce & Anthropic deepen AI partnership for finance & health

Salesforce and Anthropic have announced an expanded strategic partnership focused on delivering AI tools built specifically for the needs of regulated and data-sensitive industries.

The enhanced partnership centres on three primary initiatives. First, Anthropic's Claude large language model will now serve as a foundation for the Salesforce Agentforce 360 Platform, allowing organisations in financial services, healthcare, cybersecurity, and life sciences to use Claude as a preferred model while retaining data control within Salesforce's secure platform.

Secondly, the two companies have committed to co-developing industry-specific AI solutions using Agentforce 360, starting with applications for the financial services sector. The objective is to address sector-specific regulatory, privacy, and workflow demands.

Thirdly, Claude will be more deeply integrated with Slack, Salesforce's communication platform. Users will gain access to AI-driven features within Slack, and efforts are underway to bring the full capabilities of Agentforce 360 into Claude, creating bi-directional workflows between platforms.

Trusted foundation

The partnership marks the first time a large language model provider has been fully integrated within the Salesforce trust boundary. This approach means Claude's traffic will remain inside Salesforce's virtual private cloud, helping organisations in highly-regulated industries maintain secure control of sensitive data and workloads while deploying AI. Anthropic's models, hosted on Amazon Bedrock, will be accessible through Agentforce 360.

Anthropic is bringing its Claude model to more Salesforce customers through Agentforce, beginning with domains that face the most stringent compliance and privacy requirements. This availability includes healthcare, financial services, and cybersecurity, with other regulated sectors also in scope.

Financial services focus

The initial co-developed solution is aimed at financial services. Claude for Financial Services will be integrated with Agentforce Financial Services, enabling AI-powered agents to support tasks including analysing financial instruments, summarising insurance claims, tracking industry regulations, managing compliance consent, and automating client communications.

One potential use case is for financial advisors using a Claude-powered agent within Agencyforce. Advisors can ask the agent to summarise client portfolios, highlight regulatory changes affecting retirement products, and automate outreach to clients, all while staying within compliance-ready workflows.

RBC Wealth Management, an early partner, reported efficiency gains for advisors. Slack integration

Anthropic's Claude is now integrated into Slack. Using Slack's Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, Claude can access and process Slack channels, messages, and files. This capability allows users to quickly summarise conversations, extract key decisions, and draft updates directly in Slack. Users can also perform document analysis, search, and pull insights from Salesforce's CRM, Tableau, or other systems through Claude in Slack, facilitating faster decision-making.

There are plans to bring the full breadth of Agentforce 360's features into Claude, enabling employees to seamlessly transition from AI-generated insights to actionable tasks within their workflow.

Engineering and internal use

Salesforce engineering teams are adopting Claude Code to enhance developer productivity, automate documentation, and integrate insights from Slack directly into development workflows. Through Slack MCP server integration, engineers can document code within Slack canvases, read specifications from channels, and bring contextual information from discussions into their coding tasks.

Anthropic reports that it uses Slack and Agentforce 360 internally to summarise lengthy conversations, bring forward relevant insights, and create guided actions without leaving Slack, underscoring the application of these capabilities within its own teams.

Availability

Agentforce powered by Anthropic is currently available to select customers, while the bi-directional integration between Claude and Slack is live. Solutions targeted at regulated industries, along with further integration of Agentforce 360 into Claude, remain in development with further availability updates to be provided separately.
