Siemens launches support programme for engineering startups

Yesterday

Siemens has launched the Siemens for Startups programme, a new initiative designed to support early-stage engineering and manufacturing companies by providing them with access to advanced technology and resources.

The programme, which was announced at CES 2025 in Las Vegas, aims to enhance innovation, streamline development processes, and enable faster scaling by offering venture-related services while reducing the cost of accessing Siemens' software and hardware. This initiative includes a partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to deliver access to the Siemens Xcelerator ecosystem, further facilitating growth and innovation within startups.

Peter Koerte, Member of the Managing Board of Siemens and its Chief Technology Officer and Chief Strategy Officer, explained the significance of startups to Siemens' strategic goals. "Startups are essential to making our customers more competitive, sustainable and resilient. By collaborating with startups, Siemens helps bring breakthrough ideas to industries faster, empowering customers to address global challenges more effectively with cutting-edge technologies, tools and solutions," he stated.

Siemens for Startups is structured around three core pillars: Connect, Collaborate, and Empower. Connect is focused on helping startup companies integrate into the Siemens Xcelerator marketplace, offering them access to a global go-to-market platform and the ecosystem at large. Through the Collaborate pillar, Siemens will work closely with startups, acting as an early customer and co-developer, which could aid startups in generating early revenue needed for growth. Lastly, through Empower, participating startups will receive packaged access to essential software tools from the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio, covering both product and software development domains.

As part of its collaboration with AWS, Siemens aims to link the Siemens for Startups programme with AWS's Startup initiative. This strategic alignment underscores both companies' dedication to nurturing entrepreneurship and driving forward digital transformation within the industrial sector. Jon Jones, Vice President and Global Head Startups at AWS, commented on the collaboration: "Collaborating with Siemens allows us to extend the capabilities of our AWS Startup program to a new generation of innovators in the engineering and manufacturing space. By providing startups with advanced software, generative AI and cloud services, AWS and Siemens are enabling them to bring their ideas to life more quickly and boost entire industries with cutting-edge solutions."

Through this partnership, Siemens' suite of industrial software, which includes design, simulation, and manufacturing solutions from the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio, will be integrated with AWS's scalable cloud infrastructure. This integration is expected to provide startups with the tools and resources required to seize opportunities in their respective markets. Startups that qualify for technical and go-to-market support will receive AWS credits, access to the AWS Activate programme, and various business development resources.

During CES 2025, Siemens showcased several startup companies that are currently collaborating with Siemens' teams and technology to enhance their operations. These include Arkisys, known for creating one of the first business platforms for space technology; Dirac, a leader in automated manufacturing workflow software; EthonAI, which develops software to improve operational KPIs in manufacturing; Haddy, a company modernising furniture production with 3D printing and robotics; Instrumental, which automates failure discovery in electronics manufacturing; and Tended, which utilises geospatial data to improve safety in high-risk environments.
