Unwired Connect wins DALI-2 certification for drivers

Unwired Connect has received DALI-2 certification from the DALI Alliance for several products in its lighting control range.

The certified products include 15W, 24W and 40W DT6 drivers, DT8 Tunable White drivers, and DT8 RGB drivers. They were designed, developed and manufactured in India.

DALI-2 is a standard for intelligent lighting control systems that allows devices from different manufacturers to work together. Lighting and automation suppliers use certification to demonstrate compliance with interoperability, performance and compatibility requirements.

Unwired Connect joined the DALI Alliance as an Associate Member in May, and its products were certified in June and July. Several more products are in the pipeline.

The certification places the business among a small group of Indian companies with locally designed and manufactured DALI-2 certified products. Unwired Connect develops building automation and internet of things products for commercial, industrial and institutional settings.

Local development

The products were developed at Unwired Connect's research and innovation centre in India and are manufactured locally. The certification process covered hardware architecture, electronic design, firmware development, interoperability testing and product performance validation.

This matters because DALI-2 certification is widely used in commercial buildings, hospitality projects, industrial facilities and smart infrastructure schemes, where equipment from multiple vendors must operate together. For suppliers, compliance can help secure access to projects that specify recognised international lighting standards.

Market access

The certification broadens the company's wired lighting control offering alongside its wireless automation products. It also supports deeper work with system integrators, lighting manufacturers and automation suppliers that require standards-compliant products for larger projects.

In practice, DALI-2 certified LED drivers are used to manage dimming, colour control and tunable white lighting within building systems. DT6 drivers are commonly used for standard dimming applications, while DT8 products support colour temperature adjustment and RGB control.

Nitesh Vasant said the technical bar for certification was high.

"Getting DALI-2 certified is genuinely hard. Each driver had to prove itself on precise dimming, fault handling, and real plug-and-play compatibility with other brands' devices, with nothing left to chance. Doing all of this in-house means we truly understand our hardware and firmware, and that gives us a strong base to keep expanding our DT6, DT8 Tunable White, and RGB range as our customers' needs grow," said Vasant.

The announcement comes as suppliers to the smart building market push for wider use of common standards in lighting and automation systems. Standards-based products can reduce integration issues for building owners and contractors combining hardware and software from multiple manufacturers.

Unwired Connect's portfolio now spans both wired and wireless automation systems, reflecting demand across modern building projects for centralised control over lighting and other infrastructure. The newly certified range adds a recognised lighting control standard to that broader product mix.

The certified line includes constant current LED drivers across DT6, DT8 Tunable White and DT8 RGB variants, all designed, developed and manufactured in India.
