WaveMaker launches TestDrive app to boost MVNO customer trials
WaveMaker has introduced TestDrive, a white-label mobile application designed for the mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) sector, targeting consumer brands, influencers, and wholesale connectivity enablers.
The TestDrive application aims to allow MVNOs to provide a try-before-you-buy experience to potential customers. The tool streamlines the process for validated consumers who wish to trial network services: after entering their information, users can activate a secure eSIM on their devices with just a few taps.
Developed using WaveMaker's React Native studio as well as proprietary AutoCode AI and machine learning tools, TestDrive enables MVNOs to customise their own version of the app. Customisation includes the ability to quickly add fields or features, adjust the look and feel, and incorporate brand-specific themes, all without the need for traditional coding or development resources.
Industry collaboration
TestDrive is released in collaboration with AT&T and is pre-integrated with AT&T's MVNx APIs and several digital business support system (BSS) providers. This aims to facilitate a smoother path for MVNOs by allowing integration with back-end systems while enabling them to focus on branding initiatives and customer relationship management.
"Although the US MVNO market is a mature, traditional space, there is significant opportunity for existing and new players to integrate lifestyle and cultural aspects to unlock brand-driven differentiation, growth and premiums. We see TestDrive as an ecosystem enabler for those bold, digital-first MVNOs that want to provide a branded, frictionless consumer experience to trial their service through a powerful, new digital channel," said Vikram Srivats, Chief Commercial Officer at WaveMaker.
According to WaveMaker, the platform features a built-in Hermes engine, which is expected to provide faster application loading times and minimised memory usage. TestDrive supports accessibility requirements, with ADA compliance in design, and offers encrypted communications and state management within the app to enhance security and performance for both Android and iOS users.
Digital channel development
AT&T has expressed its intent to grow a broader ecosystem through partnerships involving specialised digital players. William Traylor, Vice President and Head of AT&T's Emerging Business, Product and Platforms, commented on the collaboration and product capabilities.
"As AT&T looks to tap new distribution and growth opportunities beyond our AT&T-branded consumer business, we're deliberately growing a diverse ecosystem of specialists across the digital stack. With the TestDrive app launch, WaveMaker has yet again demonstrated its world-class capability in delivering high-fidelity, consumer-facing mobile applications for MVNOs on America's best 5G network."
TestDrive's pre-integration with AT&T's APIs and support for leading digital BSS providers is meant to ensure that MVNOs can direct resources towards their primary business operations, including brand development and service trials, instead of technical customisation or platform engineering.
The focus on customisation is underscored by the ability for MVNOs to adapt the application through a user interface that requires no coding expertise. The use of AutoCode AI/ML tooling further allows for user interface generation from Figma designs, which is intended to accelerate delivery times and maintain fidelity in user experience across multiple devices and operating systems.
WaveMaker stated that TestDrive supports both trial service arrangements and ongoing customer acquisition strategies for MVNOs seeking to differentiate through digital channels. The application is compatible with Android and iOS ecosystems, and its technology stack is positioned to enable rapid deployment - potentially within weeks - according to the company's messaging to potential clients.
WaveMaker provides agentic-AI application generation platforms and reports customers in more than a dozen countries. The company focuses on tooling for mobile, user experience and DevOps, and has been featured in market assessments for its application development platforms.
