Bagalkot University honours Mahesh Bellad with doctorate
Bagalkot University has awarded an honorary doctorate to Dr. Mahesh Bellad at its first convocation in Jamkhandi.
Bellad is Co-Founder, Chairperson and Whole-time Director of Online Instruments, a Bengaluru-based technology company with operations across India and overseas markets. The award recognised his contribution to technology-led products and systems, particularly interactive displays, digital learning systems and audio-visual integration.
The honorary degree was conferred during the inaugural convocation ceremony at Darbar Hall on the BLDE Association campus. The event marked the formal start of the university's convocation programme and brought together academic officials and invited guests.
Bellad was recognised for work linked to digital communication and educational settings. Online Instruments said its products and services have been used in classrooms, corporate spaces and other environments that rely on digital display and AV systems.
Regional Milestone
The award also had local significance, as it was presented during Bagalkot University's first convocation, a milestone for the institution in north Karnataka. Indian Space Research Organisation scientist Nambi Narayanan was among the dignitaries in attendance.
Founded in 2006, Online Instruments is headquartered in Bengaluru. The company said it has branch offices across India and a presence in the Asia-Pacific, the Americas and the Middle East.
Its business focuses on systems integration and AV technology, serving organisations that need digital tools and related infrastructure.
Bellad's Response
Bellad commented on the recognition during the ceremony.
"I am deeply humbled to receive this recognition from Bagalkot University during such a historic convocation," said Dr. Mahesh Bellad, Chairperson, Whole-time Director and Co-founder of Online Instruments. "Technology is only as valuable as the people it empowers. Sharing this stage with a pioneer like Shri Nambi Narayanan is a distinct privilege, and it reinforces our focus at Online Instruments: building practical, scalable solutions for the next generation. I share this honour with my entire team and the partners who have driven our vision forward for the past twenty years."
The recognition adds an academic distinction to Bellad's role in a business that has grown beyond its home market. Material distributed with the announcement said Online Instruments has built its operations around technology integration and support for customers with varied requirements.
Bagalkot University did not provide further details on the selection process in the material released alongside the announcement. The citation focused on Bellad's contribution to technology and education-oriented systems in India and abroad.
Online Instruments said its team includes professionals with more than two decades of industry experience and identified AV system integration as one of its core areas of work.
