Bazaarvoice has launched an AI Visibility package for brands and retailers, designed to make user-generated content readable by AI systems.

The launch addresses a growing issue in online retail as AI tools play a bigger role in product discovery. Many review platforms still present customer reviews, ratings, photos and videos through JavaScript widgets, which can limit access for AI crawlers.

Brands using the infrastructure behind the new package have recorded a median 40% increase in AI-driven referral traffic, according to Bazaarvoice. The company added that all client user-generated content on its system is served in formats AI crawlers can read immediately.

That matters as shopping journeys shift away from conventional search results pages toward AI-generated answers. In those environments, product recommendations may depend not only on a retailer's search ranking or product page, but also on whether AI tools can detect and cite customer feedback.

The crawl gap

Bazaarvoice said the problem lies in how much user-generated content is published online. When reviews and related material are rendered through JavaScript, AI crawlers may not process them fully, leaving information consumers rely on effectively absent from AI-led shopping results.

The company said this creates a blind spot for brands that have built large libraries of customer feedback over several years. If AI systems cannot read that material, they may overlook it when assembling answers to shopping queries.

Doug Straton, chief marketing officer at Bazaarvoice, described the issue in direct terms.

"Because standard JavaScript rendering creates a massive blind spot for AI crawlers, hard-earned customer reviews, photos, videos, and star ratings are essentially left in the dark," Straton said.

He said the package is intended to expose that material to automated systems as soon as they reach a page.

"We built the AI Visibility package to fix that, so that the moment a crawler hits your page, it sees the full spectrum of your consumer voice, from written reviews to shopper photos and videos," Straton said.

Discovery shift

Bazaarvoice linked the launch to a broader change in how AI shopping interfaces present products. The company said AI applications often build answers in components, combining natural-language responses with cited sources and product carousels that show items to consider.

In those carousels, information such as star ratings, review counts and excerpts from customer reviews can already appear directly within the recommendation layer. That means customer feedback is beginning to influence visibility at the start of a shopping journey rather than only at the point of conversion on a product page.

Bazaarvoice said its research into Google AI Mode found product carousels appearing in 55% of top-of-funnel discovery prompts. That suggests branded product content and customer reviews may now play a role much earlier in the path to purchase.

The shift could have implications for retailers and consumer brands that have traditionally focused on search engine rankings and on-site merchandising. Those tools still matter, but Bazaarvoice argued they may no longer be enough to determine whether a product appears in an AI-generated answer.

Measurement partners

The package also includes measurement through partnerships with Bluefish, Evertune and Profound. Bazaarvoice said those providers will track and score how often a brand's content is cited in AI answers, while it provides the content infrastructure.

The approach reflects wider demand for ways to measure so-called generative search visibility. As marketers and eCommerce teams try to understand how products surface in AI systems, independent tracking tools are becoming part of the software stack around search and digital commerce.

The new offering includes technical implementation support for structured data deployment, as well as updates as AI search tools change, according to Bazaarvoice. It is aimed at brands and retailers that want customer reviews, ratings and image galleries surfaced in AI-led shopping environments.

Bazaarvoice works with more than 13,000 brands and retailers. Founded in 2005, it is headquartered in Austin, Texas, and operates across North America, Europe, India and Australia.
