Moglix has appointed Amit Kumar as Managing Director and Chief Business Officer, adding him to its central leadership team as it broadens its business scope.

Based in Ahmedabad, Kumar will build and expand emerging business segments and new opportunity areas across the industrial commerce platform.

His appointment comes as Moglix extends its activities beyond procurement marketplace services.

Before joining Moglix, Kumar was Group Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director at Symphony, where he spent nearly five years overseeing profit and loss growth, supply chain restructuring and digital adoption across the organisation.

Earlier, he held senior roles at KPMG India, EY and PwC, advising companies in consumer durables, automotive, chemicals, steel, fast-moving consumer goods and diversified industrials on operations improvement, procurement, manufacturing and business transformation.

He began his career with GE Aircraft Engines in its new product development team and also co-founded a data analytics company focused on business modelling and advanced analytics for enterprise clients.

Kumar studied at IIM Ahmedabad and IIT Kanpur.

Broader expansion

The hire comes as Moglix pushes further into services linked to India's industrial supply chains and manufacturing base.

Its supplier network includes more than 45,000 vendors. The portfolio also includes Credlix, a trade finance platform focused on export credit and working capital, and Cognilix, a supply intelligence product for enterprise procurement.

Rahul Garg, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Moglix and Credlix, placed the appointment in the context of wider changes in Indian industry.

"India's industrial transformation is not a forecast anymore. It is happening, on the ground, in factories and supply chains and boardrooms, right now. Moglix is building the infrastructure this new industrial India runs on. That is not just a company ambition. It is, in a real sense, a contribution to how Bharat competes and grows over the next decade. Amit has built and scaled businesses in exactly the conditions and sectors that define this moment. His joining reflects our conviction about what this company is becoming," Garg said.

Founded in 2015, Moglix serves enterprises across manufacturing, infrastructure and the public sector through procurement digitisation and supply chain services.

Leadership role

Kumar's remit suggests Moglix is seeking to deepen its presence in adjacent parts of the industrial economy, including finance and data-led supply chain tools, alongside its core commerce operations.

This expansion reflects a broader trend among business-to-business platforms in India as they seek larger positions in industrial procurement, logistics visibility, credit and software services for manufacturers and exporters.

Moglix has tied its growth to the reorganisation of global supply chains towards India and the country's push to strengthen domestic manufacturing. In that environment, companies serving procurement and supplier networks have attracted attention from investors and industry groups seeking more structured industrial supply chains.

Kumar also pointed to that backdrop in remarks on his appointment.

"Bharat is at a point where the industrial foundations being laid today will shape the economy for the next decade and beyond. Being part of Moglix at this stage, contributing to building a disruptor of global scale from India, is an opportunity that does not come often. That is what brought me here," Kumar said.
