Snowflake and Anthropic sign USD $200m AI agents deal
Snowflake has agreed a USD $200 million, multi-year expansion of its partnership with Anthropic, extending access to Anthropic's Claude large language models across Snowflake's enterprise customer base. The agreement covers more than 12,600 customers and includes a joint go-to-market initiative focused on deploying AI agents within corporate data environments.
Partnership scope
Under the agreement, Anthropic's Claude models will be integrated into Snowflake's AI capabilities, making them available to customers running workloads across the major cloud platforms. The companies said the partnership is designed to support complex, multi-step analysis on sensitive enterprise data within Snowflake's governed data environment.
Thousands of Snowflake customers are already using Claude models through Snowflake's existing AI services, processing large volumes of data each month. The expanded arrangement formalises this usage and extends it to a broader set of tools and customers.
Enterprise agents
A central focus of the partnership is the deployment of AI agents designed to analyse and act on enterprise data. These agents are intended to work across structured and unstructured information, including financial, operational and customer datasets.
Snowflake said the agents would be able to reason across large contexts and provide explanations for their outputs, rather than simply returning answers. The approach is intended to support regulated industries such as financial services, healthcare and life sciences, where governance and auditability are critical.
Platform integration
Claude models will be made available through Snowflake's AI features, allowing organisations to use natural language to query data stored within the platform. The models will also support multimodal analysis, enabling users to work with data types ranging from tabular datasets to text and images.
Customers will be able to build custom AI agents that retrieve and analyse data while remaining within Snowflake's security and governance controls. The companies said this would allow organisations to move AI projects from pilot stages into production environments.
Customer use cases
One example described by the companies involves wealth management firms using AI agents to combine client portfolio data with market information and compliance rules. The aim is to generate tailored investment insights without moving data outside the organisation's existing security perimeter.
Snowflake said similar use cases could be applied across customer support, operations and sales analysis, where multiple data sources need to be combined and interpreted.
Internal deployment
Snowflake also uses Claude models internally across its own engineering and sales teams. The models support developer productivity tools and an internal AI assistant designed to help sales teams analyse data and identify relevant insights during deal cycles.
The company said the internal use of Claude has informed how it is deploying the technology for customers, particularly around governance and security requirements.
Executive comments
"Snowflake's most strategic partnerships are measured not just in scale, but in the depth of innovation and customer value that we can create together," said Sridhar Ramaswamy, CEO, Snowflake. "Anthropic joins a very select group of partners where we have nine-figure alignment, co-innovation at the product level, and a proven track record of executing together for customers worldwide. Together, the combined power of Snowflake and Claude is raising the bar for how enterprises deploy scalable, context-aware AI on top of their most critical business data."
"Enterprises have spent years building secure, trusted data environments, and now they want AI that can work within those environments without compromise. This partnership brings Claude directly into Snowflake, where that data already lives. It's a meaningful step toward making frontier AI genuinely useful for businesses," said Dario Amodei, CEO and Co-founder, Anthropic.
Customer perspective
Snowflake customers are already using Claude-powered tools to automate parts of their operations. One such customer highlighted the impact on support and engineering workflows.
"We leverage Anthropic's Claude models in Snowflake Cortex AI and this has transformed how we work with our customers to achieve increased Fin AI Agent automation rates for their support volume. Our engagements, especially with our biggest, most demanding customers, are holistically more efficient and more effective. We can do things we simply could not feasibly do before," said Dave Lynch, VP Engineering, Intercom.
