Adobe introduces AI enhancements to Lightroom tools
Adobe has released new updates to its Lightroom and Adobe Camera Raw software. These updates introduce artificial intelligence-powered features, including Adaptive Profiles and Distraction Removal, to enhance photo editing capabilities.
The Adaptive Profiles feature is now accessible across the Lightroom ecosystem, including versions for mobile devices, the web, and Adobe Camera Raw. This tool assists users in creating high-dynamic-range (HDR) images by dynamically adjusting tones and colours within the photo, offering an improved starting point for further adjustments. An AI model analyses each image, adapting the settings for a more refined result.
Adobe's new Adaptive Profiles feature dynamically adjusts tones and colours in photos, offering an enhanced yet natural starting point for further editing. Unlike traditional presets and profiles that apply universal settings, this AI-driven tool tailors its adjustments to each individual image.
Additionally, Adobe has introduced Distraction Removal, a feature currently in Early Access for Adobe Camera Raw and expected to roll out in Lightroom soon. Designed to simplify eliminating unwanted elements from photographs, the tool reduces the time and effort traditionally required for manual edits. By making it easier to identify and remove distractions with just a few clicks, Adobe aims to streamline the editing workflow for photographers.
Another feature being tested under Early Access on Lightroom's web platform is the Clean Up tool, which facilitates the management of photo libraries. The key to this tool is the Find Duplicates feature, which helps locate and flag duplicate images and other unwanted media, such as blurry photos and screenshots.
Lightroom Classic now includes a Focus Point Selection tool in Tether Live View for photographers conducting live photo sessions. This tool allows users to select autofocus points more easily than previously possible, giving them more control over the outcome of their photographs.
Sharing improvements have also been emphasised in Lightroom Mobile, which now supports faster share link generation, easier copying and sharing options, and real-time presentation previews of shared images to ensure they meet user preferences.
The update includes enhanced performance, with improvements highlighted for brushing masks and rotating crop angles, particularly in Lightroom Classic. These updates aim to improve the workflow and efficiency of the image editing process. They also cater to photographers using different tools simultaneously, as illustrated by the introduction of Dual Monitor Support, which facilitates an expanded workspace across two screens.
These updates reflect Adobe's ongoing efforts to refine its photo editing tools by integrating AI-driven enhancements and workflow improvements. With new features designed to streamline editing, organisation, and sharing, the latest advancements aim to support photographers in managing their work more efficiently across various platforms.
