Infosys has migrated NTN Corporation's eCommerce platform, e-WINGS, from an on-premise SAP Commerce system to SAP Commerce Cloud 2211, moving a core sales platform for the Japanese manufacturer to the cloud.

NTN uses e-WINGS as its SAP Commerce-based online platform. The migration removes the need to manage it on local infrastructure. Infosys carried out the work using its Infosys Cobalt cloud services and SAP Commerce practice.

The project was intended to simplify platform maintenance and reduce day-to-day IT management. The updated system also introduces automated version control to make software upkeep more consistent.

For NTN, the change is part of a broader effort to modernise legacy technology tied to its commercial operations. Known for products including bearings and driveshafts, the manufacturer operates in 33 countries and has more than 200 locations worldwide.

The move to SAP Commerce Cloud also reflects a wider trend among industrial groups shifting customer-facing systems away from in-house infrastructure. Commerce cloud migrations are often pursued to reduce maintenance work, improve system resilience and make upgrades less disruptive.

Infosys said the migration was completed without disrupting business continuity and that the new setup should improve reliability in daily IT operations while delivering cost efficiencies associated with cloud adoption.

NTN's business gives the project significance beyond a standard software update. Its bearings are used across sectors including automotive, aviation and rail, and the company holds a strong position in products such as hub bearings and driveshafts.

Operational change

One of the main operational changes is a more scalable cloud architecture. The new structure is intended to give NTN greater flexibility to adapt its digital systems over time while reducing the complexity of maintaining older platforms.

Kenji Kitazato, Head - ICT Strategy Department, NTN Corporation, said: "This migration to SAP Commerce Cloud powered by Infosys has streamlined our IT operations, improved agility, and laid a strong foundation for future digital growth. This transformation enables us to utilize this new foundation and further promote the use of digital technology."

SAP Japan also commented on the migration through its partner leadership team, describing the project as an example of companies modernising online commerce systems through cloud deployment.

"Infosys continues to demonstrate the transformative potential of SAP Commerce Cloud through its collaboration with NTN. By using SAP's cloud features and Infosys's strong knowledge in the field, companies like NTN can update their online shopping systems quickly, effectively, and with clear results for their business," said Hattori.

Japan focus

The project also highlights Infosys's efforts to deepen its presence in Japan, where international technology service providers are competing for large-scale transformation work. Modernisation programmes in the market have increasingly focused on replacing ageing enterprise systems in manufacturing, retail and financial services.

For NTN, which traces its origins back more than a century, digital changes to customer and internal systems sit alongside its established industrial base. The company says its products are essential precision components used in machinery that supports transport and broader industrial activity.

Infosys framed the assignment as a strategic transformation spanning both cloud migration and eCommerce modernisation. Its role combined implementation work with specialist SAP Commerce expertise.

Arun Hoskere, EVP and Head, Infosys Japan, said: "We are proud to collaborate with NTN Corporation on this strategic transformation. Our team's deep expertise and insight into SAP Commerce Cloud, combined with Infosys' experience in delivering complex, enterprise-scale digital transformations, enabled us to modernize NTN's eCommerce landscape with agility and precision. This collaboration reflects our commitment to helping clients unlock agility, operational efficiency, and long-term business value through cloud-powered innovation."
