TCS has opened India's first Oracle AI Data Platform Lab and Centre of Excellence in Kolkata, expanding its collaboration with Oracle.

Located at Delta Park Lords, the facility is intended to support companies developing AI programmes built around enterprise data. TCS plans to extend the Oracle AI Data Platform Lab and Centre of Excellence model to four more Indian cities over the next three years.

The launch reflects a broader push by large technology services firms to build dedicated AI centres with cloud and software partners, as corporate customers look for practical routes into data-led automation. TCS is combining its services and implementation capabilities with Oracle's cloud, database and AI tools.

According to TCS, the Kolkata facility will focus on issues that often slow AI projects in large organisations, including fragmented data environments, slow analytics processes, limited ability to scale AI initiatives and operational inefficiencies. The lab will use reusable architectures, industry-specific offerings and pre-built tools to help clients move from early testing to broader deployment.

Oracle AI Data Platform combines Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, Oracle Autonomous AI Database and OCI Enterprise AI. The lab and center of excellence will use that stack to help customers prepare data for AI use and build agentic applications.

The move also highlights India's importance as both a delivery base and a market for enterprise AI work. Kolkata is less frequently featured than Bengaluru, Hyderabad or Pune in technology infrastructure announcements, giving the city greater visibility in a segment drawing sustained investment from global software and services groups.

TCS has a centralised team of 26,000 Oracle-skilled professionals across India to support client AI projects. That staffing base gives the company a sizeable pool to connect consulting, engineering, data management and application work around Oracle products.

For Oracle, the arrangement extends the reach of its AI and data platform through a major services partner with access to large corporate accounts. For TCS, it provides a structured setting to deepen work with customers seeking to connect data management with AI deployment rather than treat them as separate projects.
